I have a deep love affair with kale and this is my favorite raw kale salad. Kale is cleansing for your blood, reduces high cholesterol, and is packed with fiber and phytonutrients. So tasty, so easy to prepare, and so good for you. Try it!

Tunisian Kale Salad With Olives And Lemony Raw Tahini Dressing

By Latham Thomas

-2+1/2 bunches Dino Kale (lacinato) - cut thin strips across ribs
-Tsp Sea Salt
-4tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-4 tbsp-2 oz Nama Shoyu
-1 Tbsp Raw Agave Nectar
-1Tsp Spicy Curry
-1/2 C Lemon Juice
-1Tsp Cayenne Pepper
-1C Raw Tahini
-1oz Grated Ginger
-1+1/2 C Pitted Green Olives
-1+1/2 C diced Red Bell Pepper
-1C Pine Nuts
-1C Hemp Seeds

Slice the kale by the bunch across the ribs to get thin slices. Blend all ingredients minus olives, bell pepper, hemp seeds, to get a thick dressing. Add the olives, bell pepper, and hemp seeds to the bowl with kale. Then pour over the tahini dressing and mix thouroughly. Can be served right away or made a day ahead. Will not keep very long in the fridge if dressed, maybe two days tops before it gets soggy.

Mama Glow Tips- How you Practice Yoga off the mat.

Lisa from Mama Yoga class @ Om Factory. is 23 weeks, due August 28th, sex of baby unknown.

Her glow tip is leg drain for 30± minutes while watching TV after work so as to prevent varicose veins. She also tries to do pigeon pose each night on both sides to stretch out my glutes and outer thigh due to tightness. Lisa also informed me that she does her prenatal squats while brushing her teeth. Way to go Lisa!Other than that, she goes to Mama Yoga class twice a week at Om factory.

Thanks for contributing Lisa.

Latham on Channel 7 Eyewitness News

I got a phone call today from a producer at Channel 7 regarding a new study conducted by the European Congress on Obesity in Amsterdam. The new study claimed that integrating probiotics during pregnancy and postpartum can help to reduce weight gain during pregnancy and help to loose belly weight postpartum.

I did an interview with Dr. Jay Adlersberg on this topic and the piece aired tonight at 5:50pm. I think probiotics are great because they have the ability to put our gut bacteria into balance, and have immune boosting qualities- killing off any harmful bacteria, restoring harmony in the body. When we eat foods that balance our gut ecology, we are likely to make healthier food choices, hence keeping the weight down. Since sugar and starchy foods- (which contribute to weight gain) feed on "bad bacteria" they proliferate in an environment that is out of balance.

For those who didn't get a chance to check out my segment- here it is below.
